That’s Hot: etnies Hot Dogs and Hessians
Posted by: Sarah | Wednesday, July 26, 2006
HOLY HOTNESS!!!! It was scorching at the three Hot Dogs and Hessians events etnies and Active held in Southern California last week, but that didn’t keep the etnies team—or their fans—away. Team riders Elissa Steamer and Lauren Perkins (along with etnies teammates Arto Saari and Kyle Leeper) graced us with their presence at the Costa Mesa Active on Thursday, July 20, where they rocked out to Def Leppard and Iron Maiden, signed autographs, skated rails and launched ramps. More than 150 people showed up to skate with the pros and grab some free gear, making the event a lively and successful Hessian sweat fest. On Friday, Elissa, Lauren and the guys (Arto, Leeper and Ronnie Creager) headed to the San Dimas Skatepark for the second Hot Dogs and Hessians stop, and Elissa and the guys made it to the Hot Dogs and Hessians finale that Saturday at the Fontana Skatepark. Visit the etnies Skate blog for more info on the San Dimas and Fontana stops, and visit the etnies Skate Photo Gallery for tons of pictures. Thanks to the team, everyone at Active and to all of the fans who showed up despite the heat!

Tarah Gieger Snags Second Place at WMA Round Three!
Posted by: Sarah | Tuesday, July 25, 2006

Congratulations to etnies Girl team rider Tarah Gieger for taking second place overall in round three of the Women’s Motocross Association (WMA) Pro National Series in Lakewood, Colo., this past weekend! Coming off her second consecutive Mammoth Motocross win last month, Tarah was able to get in plenty of training in the long break between WMA rounds two and three, which was evident as she consistently placed third in both motos for an overall finish of second place.
We want to wish a speedy recovery to Sarah Whitmore, who unfortunately could not compete in this race due to an injury. In overall WMA standings after round three, Tarah currently holds seventh place and Sarah is in ninth. Both girls will be back for round four of the WMA in Washougal, Wash., July 27-29, round five at Broome-Tioga at Binghamton, N.Y., Aug. 18-19, and round six at Steel City Raceway in Delmont, Penn., Sept. 1-2.

Sarah Whitmore's Story: Male vs. Female Motocross Race
Posted by: Sarah | Friday, July 21, 2006
Sarah Whitmore is not afraid to kick ass and take names, and this time Jesse Ziegler was on the business side of her ass kicking. Check out Sarah’s version of events from their male vs. female motocross race on the Dirt Rider website. Jesse tries to plead his case for getting beaten by a (very accomplished) girl in the August issue of the magazine, but we’re not buying it. The beginning of Sarah’s article says it all: “Let me start by saying anything Jesse says should be taken with a grain of salt. I’m sure he is going to make up some great excuse why he not only got beat but was smoked, by yours truly. This is what really happened…”
Gearing Up for X Games 12!
Posted by: Sarah | Thursday, July 20, 2006
Elissa Steamer, Lauren Perkins and Evelien Bouilliart are gearing up to return to the X Games this summer to defend their titles! The team has killed it in past years in the Women’s Street Skate event, which will take place for the third time this year at X Games 12. In fact, etnies Girl riders have taken gold and silver each year the X Games has held the event, and we don’t expect this year to be any different—that is, unless this year is a clean sweep! Elissa will be attempting to win her third gold medal in a row, Evelien will be defending her silver medal finish at last year’s event, and Lauren, who brought home silver in 2004, will be attempting to get back on the podium this year.
Unfortunately, the event won’t be televised, but if you’re in Southern California, we want to encourage you to come down to the Home Depot Center and show your support for the team. The contest will take place on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 3:30 p.m. We hope to see you there! If you can’t make it, make sure to check the site for updates and photos.
