Sally Fitzgibbons Takes Third at US Open of Surfing

Congratulations to etnies Girl Australian rider Sally Fitzgibbons for taking home third place at the Honda US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif., over the weekend! Sally, who is just 16 years old, had some of the highest scoring waves for the entire event and won every one of her heats from round one all the way to the semi-finals. As a result, she took home a total of $1,800 and is now ranked eighteenth in the World Qualifying Series (WQS) overall standings. Well done, Sally!

Elissa, Lauren and Evelien Gearing Up for X Games 13

It’s that time of year again! X Games 13 is almost here, and team riders Elissa Steamer, Lauren Perkins and Evelien Bouilliart will all be there to defend their titles.

The team has killed it in past years in Women’s Skateboard Street, taking gold and silver each year the X Games has held the event, and we don’t expect this year to be any different—that is, unless the team pulls off a clean sweep! Elissa will be attempting to win her fourth gold medal in a row, Lauren will be defending her silver medal finishes at last year’s event and in 2004, and Evelien, who brought home silver in 2005, will be attempting to get back on the podium.

If you’re in Southern California, we want to encourage you to come down to the Home Depot Center and show your support for the team. The Skateboard Street Women’s Final will take place Friday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

etnies Girls Get on Board to Take Part in Girls’ Day at X Games 13

The etnies Girls Get on Board (GGOB) program, a series of all-girls action sports instructional clinics, will officially join X Games 13 in Los Angeles for Girls’ Day on Friday, Aug. 3, at the Home Depot Center.

To celebrate Girls’ Day, the X Games has scheduled the Women’s Skateboard Street finals on Friday, as well as etnies GGOB instructional clinics and autograph signings. etnies Girl team riders, including Elissa Steamer, Lauren Perkins, Evelien Bouilliart, Nina Buitrago, Alize Montes, Holly Lyons and Lorena Lima, will be competing, instructing and partaking in autograph signings throughout the day. etnies Girl will also have an etnies GGOB booth onsite where they will be giving away buttons, patches, informational cards and a full schedule of events for the rest of the etnies GGOB tour, which ends in late October.

Beginning on Girls’ Day, etnies GGOB will run four clinics throughout the X Games, continuing over the weekend through Sunday, Aug. 5. The first clinic will take place Friday at the Home Depot Center from 12:30-1:30 p.m., and will feature etnies Girl BMX rider Nina Buitrago. Also on Friday, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., is the Element Mini Park demo. On Saturday, etnies Girl team riders Lauren Perkins, Evelien Bouilliart, Holly Lyons and Alize Montes will be at the Freshpark Skatepark conducting skate demos from 2:00-3:00 p.m. A final skate demo will conclude the etnies GGOB clinics on Sunday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Freshpark Skatepark.

The clinics are open to all females aged 8 or above. Availability is limited, so please Contact Us if you’re interested in attending a clinic, and we will let you know if space is still available. You must have a parent present at the event if you are under 18; please arrive 45 minutes before the clinic starts in order to give yourself enough time to find parking and check in.

The US Open of Surfing is in full swing in Huntington Beach, Calif., and starting tomorrow, Thursday, July 26, through Sunday, July 29, you’ll find etnies Girl in the Festival Village. Stop by the booth to get your picture taken for the etnies Polaroid wall, pick up an etnies beach ball, create your own bracelet and more! etnies Girl team surfers Mary Osborne, Serena Brooke and Leilani Gryde and etnies Australia surfer Sally Fitzgibbons will also be on hand for autograph signings at the booth Saturday and Sunday.

Tarah Gieger Wins WMA Round 4!

Congratulations to team rider Tarah Gieger for winning Round 4 of the 2007 AMA/WMA Women’s National Motocross Championship at Thunder Valley MX in Lakewood, Colo., this past weekend! This marks Tarah’s first overall win this season. Best of all, she is now tied with longtime rival Jessica Patterson in overall points for the championship, and is no longer nipping at her heels. Teammate Sarah Whitmore took eighth place. Tarah and Sarah will compete in Round 5 at Washougal MX in Washougal, Wash., this weekend, July 27-29. Good luck, ladies!

etnies Girl team rider Mary Osborne and her friends have teamed up with Ventura Makos Surf Camp to host an All Girls Surf Week this summer! The clinics will take place Aug. 6-10 in Ventura, Calif., and cost $75 per day ($375 per week). Females of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
